Owner of the pet shop next to Keith's charity shop. Friendly with Keith-Lynn and will often go for a coffee together. He is not really interested with the business and runs it as a front almost. He sells live pets.... hamsters, guinea pigs, kittens, puppies, goldfish etc. Also, petfood and other sundry items. He doesn't really look after the animals and quite often suffers deaths before they are sold. His assistant in the shop is Blossom but she only works a couple of hours a week there. Swanley hides an awful secret regarding his sexual preferences and local rumours are that he is a predator of young boys. He lives in fear of being arrested by the police but has actually been practising his deviancy for several years without being uncovered. Swanley eventually gets arrested by the police, accused of sexual offences on under-age boys and he spends the night in cells before being released on bail. When the case goes to court he escapes conviction and is released on a legal technicality.
