Mona

Mona....

Biological daughter of Chan and Loli. Sweet and quiet Chinese girl, speaks Mandarin fluently despite her biological parents abandoning her when she was two years old, leaving Mona with their neighbours (Maeve and Dave) and never returning or making further contact. 

Maeve paid for private tuition of her native language from the age of 5. Very strong loving bond with Maeve (who left Mona her main heirloom of her engagement ring in her will). She was never officially adopted and Maeve held the strong belief that Loli and Chan would definitely return one day to claim their daughter. Mona doesn't harbour resentment but, deep down, she would like to find out why they did what they did.....and, more than anything, if they are still alive. When Mona was left she had a small bag which held nappies and milk and a tin of baby food and inside the pocket was her birth certificate and a photo of when she was two days old in her mother's arms with her father standing behind.....the only two items she has from her past.

Mona works as a language translator; she speaks English, Mandarin and Spanish fluently. Mona is an excellent cook and she trained to be a professional chef before giving it up shortly after qualifying, mainly because of the hours (as she was an unofficial carer for Dave and then Maeve before their deaths). Her speciality is Chinese / Cantonese quisine and she regularly cooks banquets for family and friends' celebrations. A particular family favourite is her 'Special Flied Lice'. 

Mona visits Moon regularly and stays with him at his home in Spain. She has been trying to help him with research into the 'stolen' children with a view to finding out if Moon's wife did have a child who may be alive.
